Today was a perfect early spring day. I hope more days like this will follow.
“You know those ducks in that lagoon right near Central Park South? That little lake? By any chance, do you happen to know where they go, the ducks, when it gets all frozen over? Do you happen to know, by any chance?” This quote is from one of my favorite books “The Catcher in the Rye” by J. D. Salinger. I don’t know where the Central Park ducks go in winter but it appears that the ducks from the lake in Tineretului Park don’t go anywhere, they just sit there on the ice, freezing, together with some friendly seagulls.
While the rest of Europe is under snow, Bucharest enjoyed a warm 12C today topped with a little bit of sun. It was a very pleasant day, same as yesterday when the temperature reached 11C at lunchtime. Just a short break though, they’re forecasting snow again by the end of the week. The lovely almost spring feeling made me grab my camera and gave me enough energy for a walk around the lake in Tineretului Park.
Judging by the last few days I think I can say for sure that the “rainy season” is over and that summer has come to Bucharest. Which is why I’ve chosen to post today’s photo, which shows a few bucharestians sunbathing in Tineretului Park. More than that, the heat has driven some to try swimming in the lake even though is not allowed and the water is far from being clean.
